Safety is a joint effort

Safety involves everyone from technology and maintenance service providers to building owners and equipment users. We have global policies, processes, and guidelines in place to enable that our business activities, including subcontractor operations, are organised and conducted in a structured and globally harmonised way.

Everyone who uses an elevator or escalator needs to be conscious of their own behaviour, for example making sure children’s hands are held when riding an escalator, and not blocking closing elevator doors.

Building owners and maintenance service providers are responsible for making sure equipment is professionally maintained and kept in good condition.

ISO 45001 Certification

Image

In recognition of the great strides made by our safety team to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of our employees, KONE Australia and New Zealand has been awarded ISO 45001 certification by LRQA, an external certification body.

ISO 45001 certification is currently the highest safety certification that we can be assessed against and KONE is the only elevator company in Australia and New Zealand to have received it. It’s just a small part of our goal to ensure all KONE personnel and users of KONE equipment go home safe, every day.

Children and safety

Habits learned young tend to stick. That is why KONE sees children as an important target group when it comes to reaching out on equipment safety.
